The Challenge

Jim Beam is a great bourbon with a great platform, but we needed to drive trial across in home and in bar drinking occasions, whilst tying back to the overarching ‘always welcome’ campaign.

The Insight

Jim Beam’s head distiller says their bourbon can be drunk “Any damn way you please” so we created a digital platform tied into this welcoming spirit, with a WebAR experience, and plenty of other bespoke digital modules and tools, capturing the essence of the brand across a range of consumer touchpoints.

 

The Action

We concepted and built the always welcome mobile web app, whereby users could choose to make their own highball cocktail, watch exclusively filmed video content from artists such as Wolf Alice and Jack Garratt, take part in a virtual bar experience, or enjoy a free Jim Beam welcome drink in a nearby bar.

This complex build saw us develop multiple versions for markets across the globe, as well as a custom-built admin area.

 

What is Augmented Reality?

To truly engage consumers from the comfort of their own homes, we developed a stunning web based AR experience to truly immerse the user in the spirit of the brand.

Users could choose to visit one of 4 virtual bar environments, and using a gamified walk-through experience, build their own highball cocktail using ingredients of their choice.

This experience pushed the boundaries of web-based AR, and is a truly engaging opportunity for brands.

The Result

The web app is still being rolled out across markets, and has been enjoyed by over 70,000 users in just a few months since launch. With an average session duration of over 2.5 minutes, the AR experience proved to be a popular activity for consumers to take part in.
